Out and About at East Austin’s George | By: Storybuilt | Posted Apr 3, 2023
Expanding on my previous blog talking about George (https://ctwaddle4.wixsite.com/cyrus-twaddle/post/george-storybuilt-revamping-east-austin), Storybuilt's youtube video highlights the different vocal points that the East Austin community has to offer. I think that this is an effective strategy, focusing on the surrounding community outside of George, instead of primarily selling the community within George. This video is beneficial for someone that is brand new to Austin looking for the right neighborhood/community to be apart of. Even if you've lived in Austin for some time, this video's highlights give levels of insight.
“A special note to all of our new neighbors – we’re so thrilled to be part of your neighborhood” is a statement that Storybuilt included in their Youtube video’s description, highlighting and promoting inclusiveness of their new development by showing their appreciation. Showing appreciation to the existing neighborhood that you’re developing in, is essential for a positive response from the current community. Occasionally, development projects, whether residential or commercial, can have a negative impact/response from the community. These reasons can vary from the traffic it derives, the type of people it attracts, the local businesses they’re competing with, etc. There is less risk of these scenarios coming about when looking at a residential project, although the risk of gentrification coming up, especially in a developing community such as East Austin, needs to be taken into account. Not doing so displays ignorance and carelessness, 2 attributes development groups should stray away from.
This not only applies to the George development, but the various residential and commercial projects occurring throughout East Austin. Implementing a project that facilitates their resources in an efficient manner, as well as providing low living expenses, is essential for a residential project. One side that I believe is another essential part of these projects, is getting involved with their community. Whether that’s volunteering for a non-profit organization, being a sponsor for a beneficial organization, or getting involved with the lower-income communities. Showing compassion, along with providing affordable living/top-notch infrastructure, is what makes a residential project successful when entering a new community. Implementing both aspects, with one being just as important as the other.
Storybuilt has a strong resume in implementing these development projects in an efficient, benefitting fashion. As they’ve done so across the U.S, in Austin, Dallas, Denver, and Seattle, demonstrating a strong blueprint, as they’ve succeeded in varying environments. Storybuilt demonstrates transparency throughout their Youtube channel, highlighting different development projects, as well as getting insight from their creative workers, including a Real Estate Investment Chat with CEO Anthony Siela. This allows new communities to explore what Storybuilt is about and how they’ve interacted with previous communities they’ve built developments in. This subconsciously builds a sense of trust within the community. This is an aspect of residential development projects that I believe is overlooked, and needs to be given more thought to. Whether it’s being active on a Youtube channel, or other social platforms. Demonstrating competency and compassion will go a long way.
